Resurfacing

Resurfacing was a semi-autobiographical project for my graduate exhibition, providing an allegory of my journey from law school to design school in the form of an animation. The work focuses on the five most significant phases of emotional and psychological shift during that time, and show a narrative of introspection, identity, and growth. The accompanying publication provides insight into the story, process and concepts, as well as a transcript of my interview with Fab Mackojc on his podcast The Journey.

This is a deeply personal piece that aims to share my truth. This story acknowledges the path that has lead me here, and lays the foundation for the type of practice I want to pursue as an image-maker. While these living images reflect the formative spaces in my life, my hope is that they may resonate with others and encourage reflection on their own truths.

Publication

The accompanying publication was separated into chapters named after each phase ‒ Dormant, Broken, Limbo, Resurfacing, Crystallise ‒ with short prose in each section. It also included a full transcript of my interview with Fab Mackojc. This book was lovingly typeset, and includes illustrations and behind-the-scenes photographs as I worked on this major project in my final semester of design school.

Full colour, 80 page softcover book. 18 cm x 25 cm. The dust jacket unfolds into a full bleed poster.
